    What happened to Lamar Odom?
I first met Lamar Odom back in 2000. I was a producer for an ESPN show called "The Life" and we were out in Los Angeles to shoot a segment with him. He was playing with the LA Clippers then, living the rags-to-riches story of a city kid who made it off the playground and into the big-time. And we wanted to show fans how Lamar -- beautiful, talented and rich -- was living every man's dream. The problem was it wasn't Lamar's dream.
  • Sources close to ex-NBA star Lamar Odom tell NBC News' sister network E! that he is off of life support and breathing on his own, and he opened his eyes and spoke. Odom regained consciousness Friday and was able to say hi to his estranged wife Khloé Kardashian, a source close to the situation told NBC News. Odom's mother-in-law Kris Jenner told Access Hollywood that he is still in critical condition.
  • Former NBA star Lamar Odom woke up and spoke for the first time since he was found unresponsive at a brothel in Nevada, sources say. Odom was hospitalized Tuesday after he was found unconscious at the Love Ranch, where he had been holed up since Saturday. After being unresponsive for days, Odom said "hi" to his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, a source with knowledge of the situation said Friday.
