Being the Indian Jones fan-boy that I am, I couldn't help but speed along the announcement. Walt Disney Studios just announced today that there will be a a fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. Harrison Ford will reprise the role of Indy. Steven Spielberg will also be returning to the set. Currently, additional cast members haven't been announced.
The project is currently untitled, and is set to hit the big screen on July 19, 2019.
The aliens aspect of the last film didn't really bother me. It's how poorly they injected the aliens into it. People like to say that aliens don't belong in an Indiana Jones film, but I don't really think that's true. It's an adventure film straight up and down. If they execute the aliens properly, it could be really cool.
Remember, we are talking about a film that's notorious for opening Pandora's box. Which made everyone's faces melt off and implode. Pandora's box is mythological. What happens when you open Pandora's box is myth. So to me, if the die hard fans of IJ can be pleased with them having such a far fetched scene as that, they should be OK with aliens. But like I said, it has to be tasteful and relate to the story better.
