I have never really been into the whole holiday thing. I can definitely understand why the majority of people are though. Getting together with family and friends, catching up things, and just having a good time together. Though to me, it's starting to get a bit out of hand. Let's just start over and erase all the obvious money grabbing ones. Holidays have been used as a money printing machine for quite some time now.
Lets see, here in the U.S. we have:
Mothers Day
Fathers Day
Valentines Day
Christmas
Easter
Thanksgiving
Sweetest Day (Northern thing. Same as, and on top of Valentines Day.)
St. Patrick's Day
Cinco de Mayo
Black Friday (Blatant example of what I'm referring to)
This is just to name a few. And no, I'm not talking about every holiday. One's like President's Day I can understand. But Sweetest Day....? Come on. I refuse to acknowledge that as a day that I MUST purchase chocolate and roses for someone, just because you say so. But the issue is, if you don't, you're the jerk.
