Last week's episode, 'Battle of The Bastards' was easily my favorite episode of the series, by far. The episode broke new ground with a perfect 10/10 rating on IMBD. I didn't think it could get any better than that as far as technical aspects and cinematography. 'GoT' surprised me again last night. The episode was titled, 'The Winds of Winter'. Now this episode is a 10/10. Both by the same amazing director.
Now I don't want to get into spoilers too much, but I can say a few things. The entire beginning of this episode was perfectly scored. The music was right in sequence with where my feelings were. I knew something was about to go down when Cersei was wearing all black and didn't let her son join the trial.
And Finally! Finally! Revenge! This episode was full of sweet revenge that we have all been wating for for a long time. It felt good.
Please keep this director around!
NeoLogic Wrote: Last two episodes were the best so far. Answered a lot of questions, unlike last season's finale. You're right too, that director is probably the best they have.
I really hate it when shows like this swap directors. I know that they shoot all over the world so it's hard to keep the same director for every shoot. But when feedback is so overly positive that it sets records, on two occasions, it's different. At least give him as many as you possibly can. Pay him more or something. We all know you have the money to do it!
You could tell almost immediately that they used a new director on the first two episodes of this season (of GoT). The over-the-top sexual nonsense was just that...nonsense. At least vet the director with the first ten minutes of an episode of your show to be sure they understand it completely. If not, WE WILL KNOW. They did this a lot with 'Sons of Anarchy'. Every now and then, there would be an episode that was just so blatantly out of place. Those episodes are hard to watch.
