As always, much controversy comes with the Miss America Pageant. Some call it sexist and archaic. I sort of agree. I suppose I would agree more if I actually paid much attention to it in the first place. It's not like these ladies are being forced onto stage at gunpoint. They knowingly objectify themselves, if that's the case.
At any rate, Savvy Shields, Miss Arkansas, won the crown. It almost seems like her parents picked that name with the idea that she would be Miss America one day. I didn't know this, but whoever wins the pageant, receives a 6 figure salary while they wear the crown, as well as a contract obligation with Dick Clark Productions.
Do you think the pageant has lost it's clout over the years? Do people still care about it?
