The amount of performers at this year's Billboard Music Awards is quite impressive, well, at least a couple of them are. Normally I would say that most, if not all of the music award shows in the past 5 years have been stale and repetitive. And I still hold that same notion to be true for this one, but it has a little hope to actually be good. Two of the music industry's most celebrated icons, Cher and Celine Dion will be performing and accepting awards.
Cher is set to receive the Icon Award and will be performing her well known song 'Believe'. This will be her first award show performance in 15 years. That has to be pretty scary, even for a veteran performer like her.
Celine Dion will be performing 'My Heart Will Go On' to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film 'Titanic'. I'm a bit confused as to why they chose that to be the reason for her performance, but that's what they are going with. I feel like they could have focused a bit more on her music career or her being an icon, rather than it being about a film anniversary.
I am really hoping these two will put on an amazing show. If they pull it off like I think they will, hopefully it sets the bar a little higher than the insanely dry award shows we've been given the past few years.
Other performers this year:
Drake
The Chainsmokers
Halsey
Florida Georgia Line
Sam Hunt
Imagine Dragons
John Legend
Lorde
Bruno Mars
Nicki Minaj
Ed Sheeran
And on a related note, please people.... relax with the obnoxious political and religious views. We watch these awards shows to be entertained and escape from reality for a bit. Not to be bombarded with what you think needs to be pushed on the viewers. And if you try to say you're just "being you" and not pushing your way of thinking onto the people watching, you're also lying. We get enough of that stuff crammed into our day. Please relax with it.
