Ok, so I'm not starting this thread because I agree with this list. Whatculture.com put out an article that shows 10 of IMDB's most overrated movies. These 10 movies came from their top 250. Even though these movies are numbers apart in the list, I still found it surprising that they were even in the list. I have to say, I strongly disagree with many of them.

IMDB's Top 10 Most Overrated Movies:

    1. The Shawshank Redemption #1

    2. The Green Mile #30

    3. Interstellar #31

    4. Untouchable #38

    5. The Dark Knight Rises #66

    6. Coco #69

    7. Dangal #80

    8. Bohemian Rhapsody #123

    9. Spotlight #208

    10. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 #217

Three of those movies made me cry. And COCO!? Really?! I know the data is user-generated, but putting Coco in that list is just purely heartless. And come on, Shawshank is ranked #1? I guess the wonderful story telling of Stephen King is too much for some people.

Do you agree? I'm sure I have a stack of movies in my head that I think truly deserve the title over those. Hit me with your top 10.

I've seen 7 of those.. this list maker must really think King and Nolan are overrated.. whatever. Making a top 250 all time movie list will always be very subjective. But I think the way IMDB does it, based off of tons of user ratings right?, is a pretty legit way to go about it. I don't think it's IMDB saying these are the top movies to them, am I right about that?

Anyways, scrolling through their top 250 list, here's a few that stand out to me as overrated:

#27: The Usual Suspects. I liked the film alright. But for a 1995 film, I honestly don't think it ages very well and once you know the twist, how rewatchable is it, really? Top 150-ish I'm ok with. But number 27 above Saving Private Ryan? C'mon now.

#57: Avengers: Infinity War. There's just too many greats below it for me. You have Dr. Strangelove and WALL-E just below it that should clearly be higher. I would probably put the marvel movie in the top 200, but not nearly that high.

So, I think this list has way more underrated top movies, looking at it:

#89 - 2001: A Space Odyssey (best sci fi film ever)
#90 - Toy Story (arguably best animated film ever)
#150 - The Wolf of Wall Street (watch it a 2nd time, this movie is greatness)
#183 - Jurassic Park (best monster movie ever)

All those should be WAY higher on the list.

Yeah, but the word "overrated" just doesn't sit right with me on many of these. I think what people these days call "overrated" are movies that were super popular and they go sick of seeing ads and reviews for them. I found this little gem of an article. It seems as though someone else has a problem with the list as well. Wink
