'The Mandalorian' is finally here! Disney+ launched with one of the most anticipated new shows in quite a long time. The new addition to the the Star Wars universe shows us the story of a bounty hunter traversing dangerous worlds hunting down criminals.
That's your only warning if you haven't seen episode two.
Like most others, I had originally thought that synopsis was about the extent of the show, but now that I've seen Ep.2, I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. The ending of Ep.1 wasn't some sort of hyped up easter egg for us 'Star Wars' fans. It really looks like baby Yoda (we can all assume) is going to be a running theme throughout the show, if not the main theme. I had my doubts that it was actually Yoda up until the moment he lifted a monstrous rhino off the ground. That was an incredible scene that sealed the deal for me. If the show continues with moments like that, I'm all in.
I'm really happy so far with the direction Jon Favreau is taking the show. It walks and talks like Star Wars, though it just feels different in a refreshing way. I've been pretty disappointed with the movies of the past few years. The only one that stood out to me as a great movie was 'Rouge One: A Star Wars Story'. Other than that, they've been all hype and produced sub-par material. This one feels fresh and seems to be tapping into that enormous universe we all know and love.
