Christian Bale. Michael Keaton. George Clooney. Val Kilmer. Adam West. What do all these guys have in common? They've all played Batman in a major motion picture film. Also, they've all been made fun of and been criticized for their Batman performance(s). Every single one of them. Bale for his super deep voice. Clooney for his terrible acting, and 'phoning it in', which he even admits to. West for being a ridiculous human being (see Family Guy character). Kilmer for playing Batman too dark and effeminate. And Keaton... whatever. I'm not repeating the haters there. Keaton was the best Batman ever, period.
This brings me to Hollywood's next choice: Ben Affleck. I couldn't believe or even quite understand the backlash that the internet at large gave when news was leaked that Affleck would be the newest Batman. When every single guy that's ever tried has been bashed and criticized ad nauseam, who do people really think can actually pull the role off? And why is everyone automatically expecting that Affleck won't do a good job?
If everyone were being honest, most people would admit to liking at least a few Affleck movies over the years. I understand it's easy to knock the guy, but looking over his career, the guy has some pretty solid range actually. He's been in several different film genres, as well as become a respected director.
How's about we give the guy a break, and see the movie before we rush to judgement. Actually, I'm really looking forward to it - Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. And Affleck in this preview looks ever bit the part. Watch below and tell me whatcha think:
