Anne Meara, born in Brooklyn NY 1929, mother of Ben Stiller and Wife of Jerry Stiller has passed away. Anne and her husband were together for 61 years, and worked together for almost as long. A statement by her family said, "Anne's memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne,".

My thoughts go out to the Stiller family. She will be missed.

Ben was lucky to have Anne and Jerry as parents; opened up so many doors for the guy. I always liked Anne. A little before my time, but worth a watch to see her on the Carson show, or some of her stand up from back in the day. Here's something:

That joke is pretty amazing. The joke is both ahead of its time and dates it.

My girlfriend is half Jewish, and I was raised Baptist (atheist now). This isn't really an issue today. But back then, it would be considered a mixed relationship and was very taboo. When my girlfriend's Jewish mom said yes to her proposal, her mother's Jewish family lost it, saying you can't marry a Catholic, it's not right. The same happened on her father's side about marrying a Jew.

Anyway, what makes this story really funny is that we actually met through online dating.

    RIP Anne

I totally agree. They were definitely two of a kind. May she rest in peace.
